Gulf Gold helps QLD Farmers fill job vacancies

Employment in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing in Central Queensland accounts for a 7.2% share of Australia’s total workforce. The recent announcement of the Queensland Agriculture Industry Workforce Plan, which has been developed by the Queensland Farmers’ Federation in partnership with Jobs Queensland and in collaboration with the Rural Jobs and Skills Alliance (RJSA), to grow jobs in the sector over the next five years, is welcome news for the Central Queensland region.

At Gulf Gold, we recognise the plight of our farmers who are seeking workers for their agribusinesses & farms with farmers saying competition for staff is now reaching levels never seen before in rural areas.
Across the industry, the situation is ‘dire’ for farmers, with consequences from crop losses to unmanageable workloads, which will have health, safety and mental wellbeing implications.
In the case of produce growers, while in the past they may have had to leave crops like fruit, on the trees after environmental conditions like hail, have spoiled the fruit, they’ve never had to leave them because they can’t harvest.

Therefore, without the security of staff to harvest the crops, many across the industry, have had to make the tough decision to cut costs by reducing planting, particularly in vegetables.
This highlights the knock-on effects for consumers who could see food shortages and extreme price hikes – occurrences of this are already being seen in supermarkets across the nation.

Our team at Gulf Gold can assist your agribusiness with our Student Placement service whereby students are partnered with these businesses/farms, to fill the employment issues that face Rural Queenslanders in business.

At Gulf Gold, we pride ourselves on the professional quality of our services to our clients.
Our consultation process with the agribusiness owner/farmer, will determine the suitability of our placements and we will ensure communications are maintained throughout the placement process.
We also will ensure that the placement process complies with legal, insurance, health and safety regulations at all times.

We will offer young people finishing school and at university, the opportunity to come to rural and/or regional Australia, to have an adventure of a lifetime whilst helping to fill skilled labour shortages in agricultural businesses/farming communities.

Where suitable, Gulf Gold will also investigate the incentive of apprenticeships and traineeships where Payroll Tax Rebates are available for wages paid to apprentices and trainees.
Gulf Gold is here to provide a vital service to lessen the headache of staff shortages in the agricultural sector but and by doing business with Gulf Gold, you’ll also help those who are in need, in rural Australia.

Unlike other recruitment companies, Gulf Gold contributes a percentage of profits to its Charity of Choice, Australian Horizons Foundation. Australian Horizons Foundation raise funds that are distributed to other charities, service clubs, community groups, families and individuals who are experiencing hardship. The Foundation focuses on Mental Health awareness & support, rural education, land & water to support rural Australia. To date, Australian Horizons Foundation has been able to donate over $7 million to rural Australian organisations.
